Project Manager for Educational Partnerships (ETH4D)

ETH for Development (ETH4D) is an ETH-wide initiative to develop innovations that address global development challenges and to educate future leaders for a sustainable development.
We are currently looking for a project manager for our Educational Partnerships Program. The program fosters initiatives that aim to improve tertiary education in developing countries through collaborative efforts between ETH, academic institutions abroad and industrial partners, with a particular focus on university-level engineering education in sub-Saharan Africa.
The project manager will be part of the ETH4D team and work closely with Prof. Dr. Edoardo Mazza, who is chairing the educational partnership program and to whom the project manager will report directly.
The Project Manager will take over all responsibilities for the programs initiatives, including managing the development of the already established collaborations with Ghanaian and Kenyan Universities. Similarly, the project manager will be responsible for designing a coherent project portfolio through the identification and initiation of new projects within the scope of the program.
Besides handling planning and execution, building partnerships and managing the diverse expectation of the involved stakeholders, i.e. African universities, Swiss and international industrial companies and the ETH community, is an important aspect of this position.
The workplace is ETH Zentrum, however the position requires a willingness to travel internationally (10% of the workload on average, but up to 1-2 weeks in block).
Ideal candidates fulfill the following requirements:
- Completion of a Master or, preferably, Doctoral degree in an engineering discipline.
- Strong ability to work autonomously, self-organization, combined with excellent analytic, planning and intercultural communication skills.
- Open-minded, flexible, willing to learn and to work in a dynamic environment with a diverse team.
- Prior experience in university-level education is an asset.
- Strong ability to communicate in English (oral and written) is essential, knowledge of German is advantageous.
- Experience in the field of international development or project management in an international context is a plus.
