JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Innsbruck invites applications for the position of a

University Professor of

SOCIOLOGY

(Social Institutions and Organizations)

at the Institute of Sociology. The position will be based on a permanent civil-law employment contract with the University.

Responsibilities include

  • research and teaching on social organizations and institutions in the areas of work, culture, economics, politics etc.;
  • the development of an internationally visible research profile with excellent publications and competitive research grants;
  • high quality teaching in the BA, MA and PhD-programmes of the Department;
  • the active collaboration with University-wide and international research networks and the strategic development of research excellence at the department;
  • tasks of academic management.

Eligibility requirements

  • A relevant higher education degree (PhD);
  • A relevant Habilitation or equivalent qualification;
  • Publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals and other publications (monographs, edited volumes, book chapters) with renowned publishers;
  • Theoretically innovative empirical research in the area of specialization;
  • Involvement in international research networks;
  • evidence of postgraduate academic mobility and international research and teaching experience;
  • pronounced pedagogical and didactical aptitude/ skills as well as teaching experience;
  • Experience with the successful acquisition of research grants;
  • Very good English; a good level of German is required after two years to fulfil teaching obligations;
  • Social skills.

The basic salary for this position is set down in the collective bargaining agreement for university employees. Professors are in the remuneration group A1. For this position the monthly salary is € 5.130,20 (14 times/year). Depending on qualification and experience a higher salary can be negotiated with the rector.
