Lecturer in applied anthropology

The Department of Anthropology, one of the largest departments of anthropology in Europe with an excellent reputation in both research and teaching, currently has an opening for a lecturer in Applied Anthropology.

What will you do?

You will actively contribute to the department and its teaching programs. The position will require you:

to assist in teaching courses in applied anthropology in the Bachelor Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology and the Master Cultural and Social Anthropology;
to supervise students in the applied anthropology track in the Master Cultural and Social Anthropology;
to contribute to the further development of applied anthropology at the department of Anthropology in Amsterdam.
REQUIREMENTS
What do we require of you?

You have:

an MA in anthropology;
a strong proven record in applied anthropology and experience in applying anthropological knowledge and methodologies outside academia;
excellent knowledge of spoken and written English;
working proficiency in the Dutch language or the willingness develop this within two years.
We have a preference for someone who will strengthen the diversity of our department.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Our offer

The employment contract will be on a temporary basis for a period of one year. The preferred starting date is 1 September 2020. Salary depends on past education and relevant work experience, with a minimum salary of €3,673 and a maximum salary of €4,978 gross per month based on a full-time contract for a 38-hour working week (in keeping with scale 11, as per the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities). We additionally offer an extensive package of secondary employee benefits, including a generous holiday scheme and year-end bonus.
